Woodbury County REC offers a variety of rebates for residential and commercial / agricultural qualifying for equipment.
Residential Rebate Programs
Residential Lighting Rebates
CFL, T-8 and/or T-5 Fluorescent Tubes
Air-to-Air Heat Pump
If no backup heat or back up heat is propane or natural gas: Qualifying unit rating and SEER
Energy Star Rating of 14.5-14.9 SEER $400 per unit
- Energy Star Rating 15.0-15.9 SEER $500 per unit
- Energy Star Rating 16.0 or > SEER $600 per unit
If backup heat is electric
- Energy Star Rating of 14.5-14.9 SEER $600 per unit
- Energy Star Rating 15.0-15.9 SEER $700 per unit
- Energy Star Rating 16.0 or > SEER $800 per unit
To qualify for the above rebates on our system,regardless if new or replacement of and old unit. Please provide an invoice with the SEER rating, tons of new unit installed and weather it is electric or gas/propane furnace and if electric what the kWh is.
Geothermal Heat Pumps
The ground source heat pump must meet energy efficiency specifications COP>= 3.3 & EER of >= 14.1
Qualifying Unit
Residential geothermal heat pump with or without a desuperheater $3000
To qualify for the geothermal heat pump rebate on our system, regardless if new or replacement of and old unit. Please provide an invoice with the SEER rating, tons of new unit installed and weather it is electric or gas/propane furnace, and if electric what the kWh is.
Ductless Mini-Split Heat Pump Systems
$200 per unit
- Minimum Energy Star Rating 14.5 or greater SEER
- Provides heating and cooling of a conditioned space
- Limited to two units per single family dwelling building
- Limited one rebate per multi-family dwelling
- Limit of one rebate for each leaseable hotel room

Rating and Seer of Units that Qualify
ENERGY STAR Rating of 15.0 or greater SEER $100
To receive a rebate, please provide and invoice showing SEER rating and how many tons the unit is.
Window/Portable Air Rebates
Member must provide and invoice showing the unit purchased and that it is an ENERGY STAR-rated unit. Rebate per unit $25.
Electric Appliances
Electric Appliances Rebate Options
To be eligible for a rebate it must meet energy efficiency "Energy Star" specifications. Provide Woodbury County REC with a copy of your invoice and also a copy of the yellow Energy Star Sticker. Each member-consumer account is limited to a maximum of $250 in combined appliance rebates:
- Cloths Washer $50 per unit
- Refrigerator $25 per unit
- Freezer $25 per unit
- Dishwasher $25 per unit
- Cloths Dryer $25 per unit

Insulation Rebate
Building Insulation Rebate
Building must have electric heat installed and be used as the primary heating source of the building.
Must be professionally installed by registered contractor for blown-in, insulating concrete forms, rigid Styrofoam panels and/or Structural Insulated Panels type insulation.
Residential rebate is limited to 30% of installed insulation cost up to a maximum rebate of $800 per building per calendar year.
Water Heater Rebates
Water Heaters Energy Factor of 90% or higher.
- 50 gallon $300
- 75 gallon $350
- 85 gallon $400
- 105 gallon $500
Residential and Non-Residential water heaters must be 50 gallons or greater if you are replacing a water heater. To receive a rebate, the water heater must be under Switch Makes Cents load management control. This rebate applies to either new or water heater replacements. New Switch Makes Cents installations must have a minimum of 80 gallons of electric water heating capacity to qualify.
Appliance Recycling
"You Pull the Plug" Appliance Recycling Program
- Participants of “You Pull the Plug” agree to self-remove and recycle qualifying appliances via an approved and certified appliance de-manufacturer.*
- Participants of “You Pull the Plug” will receive a $50 rebate, per qualifying appliance, up to three (3) appliances, per calendar year.
Program Details
- Appliance(s) must be clean, empty, and in working order when recycled/disposed of by WCREC member.
- Appliance(s) may only be delivered to or be picked up by company/facility* that verifies recycling/decommissioning.
- $50 rebate includes all costs incurred by participant to self-remove and recycle qualifying appliance(s).
- Dated copy of receipt by the certified vendor/landfill/recycler must accompany the “You Pull the Plug” rebate application form (available from our office or online). Company/facility must specify appliance type in writing.
- WCREC member certifies that the item(s) listed in application have been removed from member’s location served by WCREC.
- WCREC reserves the right to modify (including incentive levels) or terminate this program without prior or further notice.

Commercial and Agricultural Rebate Programs
Air-to-Air Heat Pump

Geothermal Heat Pumps
>=10 Tons the $ 400 / Ton
To qualify for the geothermal heat pump rebate on our system, regardless if new or replacement of and old unit. Please provide an invoice with the SEER rating, tons of new unit installed.
Building Insulation Rebate
Building must have electric heat installed and be used as the primary heating source of the building.
Must be professionally installed by registered contractor for blown-in, insulating concrete forms, rigid Styrofoam panels and/or Structural Insulated Panels type insulation.
Rebate is limited to 10% of installed insulation cost up to a maximum rebate of $2000 per building per calendar year.
Water Heaters Rebates
> 80 gallon & heating Elements = 18kW then $20 / kW
To receive a rebate, the water heater must be under Switch Makes Cents load management control. This rebate applies to either new or water heater replacements. New Switch Makes Cents installations must have a minimum of 80 gallons of electric water heating capacity to qualify.
Lighting Rebates
Lighting represents one of the largest energy uses in commercial, industrial and agriculture buildings. New and replacement energy efficient lighting fixtures/lamps installed in a commercial, industrial or value-added agriculture building that is served by Woodbury County REC must be a minimum of 500 watts (0.5 KW) to qualify for the following rebates:

Variable Speed-Motors and Soft Start Device Rebates
An incentive to our customers, Woodbury County REC offers a rebate for new variable-speed energy efficient motors installed in a commercial, industrial or value-added agriculture building that is served by Woodbury County REC.
Soft-start devices installed on an existing motor which is installed in a commercial, industrial or value-added agriculture building served by Woodbury County REC also qualify for a rebate. (The rebate amount is based on the horsepower of the motor that the soft-start device is connected to.) Seasonal applications are not eligible. There is a maximum rebate of $5,000 per motor.
